Khopachagu health post ( clinic) which is established by Nepal government ( Health minister of Nepal) for Village Development Committee ( VDC) which are Khopachagu, Loding, Chilangkha, Alampur, Bigu and Kalinchowk. But this clinic providing only basic treatment and only allowed to provide 36 items of medicine which are disturbing from Nepal Health minster free to people. This clinic is for six VDC and most of patients are coming to this clinic as per day approximately 8 to 15 patients will visiting for treatments.
About Doctors and Nurse: They have 4 which are one health post in charge as assistant doctor and one field in charge and 2 staff nurses.
Why volunteer to health Post:
This is very remote area of Nepal which is very close to mountains and Great Himalayan Trial of Nepal. Most of people are poor in financially, uneducated and lack of health awareness. Volunteer will contributed their time and knowledge of health department and make a real difference in their life. Other hand, volunteer will get life changing experience by helping and working directly by involves with people and patients as well social-culture and religion.
Activities (Schedule):
Sunday to Friday is working day.
The clinic will open as from morning 10:00 am to 03:00pm every days and working directly with staff as checking and examine the patients etc. sometime, volunteer will go to field as door to door with field in charge and participating the program which are organized by government of Nepal.
Where to stay:
Volunteer will stay at host family (host family is the filed in charge of clinic) and his name is Bharat Dai (Dai mean elder brother), he is very Gentle and respected person in the community and society. He has five family members, out of them himself, his wife is working as teacher at public school and his son studying at Kathmandu and his daughter is staying at India.
How to get there:
Those volunteer who would like to trekking, then it will takes 2/3 days walking through very beautiful environments and villages of different ethnicity of Nepal. Along with very beautiful mountains and passing high pass called Tinsang Pass (3,320meters).
During trekking, staying as home stay at local house with their family by experiencing traditional life style of Nepali and Sherpa with local foods.
Another option: Have to take public bus for whole day (approximately 11 hours) and next day around 4/5 hours by walking.
Himalayan Guge Organization (HGO) volunteer coordinator will take volunteer to Khopachagu and give volunteer orientation with arrange whole schedule for volunteer. After completed volunteer’s placement then HGO Volnteer coordinator will come to pick up at placement, then hike / trek back to HGO’s Volunteer House in Kathmandu.
